Springboard for the Arts is excited to present Springboard on Ice in partnership with Brownbody; a figure skating organization committed to liberating Black artistry. Springboard on Ice is a free series of winter events and activities centered on a charming mini-ice rink at its St. Paul location. This community-driven initiative offers a unique blend of artistic expression, skating fun, and creative gatherings for all ages to enjoy during the 2025 winter season.
Winter Whirl: St. Paul Winter Carnival celebration
Mark your calendars for Springboard on Ice: Winter Whirl, an official Saint Paul Winter Carnival event that promises an afternoon of winter magic! Join in on the fun at Springboard for the Arts on 1-4 p.m. on Jan. 25. This festive gathering will feature:
- Live performances
- Learn to Skate workshops hosted by Brownbody
- Local artist vendors
- Winter-themed activities for all ages
Whether you’re a seasoned skater or a first-timer, there will be plenty to enjoy at this lively community event — and best of all, it’s completely free!
Open skate days
For those looking to sharpen their skating skills or simply enjoy a few laps around the rink, Springboard on Ice offers multiple Open Skate Days. These sessions provide additional opportunities to glide on the ice and learn from Brownbody’s talented instructors:
- Thursday, Jan. 16 – 4-6 p.m.
- Saturday, Feb. 8 – 1-3 p.m.
No skates? No problem! Rental skates for both kids and adults are available on-site at no cost.
All Springboard on Ice events are free, open to the public, and weather-dependent. This winter program not only provides an opportunity for community members to connect through the joy of skating but also highlights local artists and celebrates the unique culture of St. Paul during the winter months.
