Celebrating the Launch of the Creative Freedom Fund

The Legacy of iLLism: Empowering the Black Arts Community

Together with her husband, Envy, Fancy is one-half of iLLism, a Twin Cities-based hip-hop duo that spans genres such as Hip-Hop, R&B, Jazz, and Minneapolis Funk. The duo has performed at some of the most prestigious events and venues, including Super Bowl Live, NAMM, SXSW, and Paisley Park. But beyond their musical accomplishments, iLLism is committed to uplifting the Black artistic community, and their impact continues to grow.

In 2022, Fancy and Envy opened The Legacy Building, a space designed to support local Black artists with top-tier equipment, performance venues, and access to community resources. In 2023, they hosted the Soul of the Southside Juneteenth Arts and Music Festival, which brought over 2,500 attendees together for a day of music, art, food, and healing.

A Bright Future Ahead

Fancyโ€™s 40 Under 40 recognition is a reflection of her leadership, vision, and dedication to uplifting her community. Her efforts to create spaces for local creatives are shaping the future of Black artistry in the Twin Cities.
