Honoring Black Excellence in Hopkins and Minnetonka

Black History Month is more than a momentโ€”itโ€™s a movement. Itโ€™s a time to celebrate the past, embrace the present, and envision a future rooted in Black excellence. On February 20, the cities of Hopkins and Minnetonka will bring that vision to life with Expressions of Blackness, an evening dedicated to the art, music, entrepreneurship, and resilience of the Black community.

Held at the Hopkins Center for the Arts, this event isnโ€™t just about recognizing historyโ€”itโ€™s about creating new spaces for joy, connection, and empowerment.

The Soundtrack of Celebration

Music has always been the heartbeat of Black culture, carrying the stories, struggles, and triumphs of generations. At Expressions of Blackness, a live DJ will keep the energy high, spinning tracks that reflect the depth and dynamism of the Black experience. Whether itโ€™s classic soul, Afrobeat rhythms, or hip-hop anthems, expect a night filled with sounds that move the body and uplift the spirit.

Black-Owned Businesses on Full Display

Supporting Black entrepreneurship is essential to building lasting economic empowerment. The event will feature Black-owned vendors showcasing everything from handmade crafts to fashion, wellness products, and more. Itโ€™s an opportunity to invest in Black businesses, connect with local creators, and leave with something unique and meaningful.

More Than an Eventโ€”A Gathering of Community

Black joy is resistance. Black creativity is power. Black community is strength. This event isnโ€™t just about attendingโ€”itโ€™s about belonging. Itโ€™s about honoring the past while celebrating the present, about lifting each other up while moving forward together. Itโ€™s about creating a space where Black identity is not just acknowledged, but celebrated in all its forms.

So bring your friends, family, and neighbors. Come experience the beauty of Black culture. Letโ€™s celebrate, uplift, and honor the Expressions of Blackness.
