Community Voices and Leadership

The event is more than just a market—it’s a space for dialogue and inspiration. Two thought-provoking panel discussions, moderated by Siena Iwasaki Milbauer of MN Women’s Press, will center on themes of community and entrepreneurship.

At 12:00 p.m., the “Community” panel will feature leaders who have made an impact in the arts, labor, and public service:

  • Tiffany Xtine Beamer – Lead singer & founder of Rebel Queens band
  • Lou Blcok – Bassist in Rebel Queens band & professional iron worker/welder
  • Clare Oumou Verbeten – MN State Senator, District 66
  • Kalimba Edwards – Minneapolis Fire Department Captain

At 2:00 p.m., the “Building Your Business” panel will provide insight from entrepreneurs and industry experts who have carved out their own paths:

  • Steph Johnson – Battalion Chief/MN-TF1 Rescue Manager, Fire Station 6
  • Deb Loch & Jill Pavlak – Co-head honchos at Urban Growler
  • Jesi Peters – Director of Development and Communications, The Lift Garage
  • Sarah Lechowich – CEO & Founder of True North Roofing, LLC

A Celebration of Culture and Connection

Beyond the marketplace and discussions, DJ Jorge Sanchez will provide entertainment, ensuring an atmosphere that is both lively and welcoming. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with vendors, speakers, and fellow community members in a space dedicated to honoring women’s voices and artistry.

No RSVP is required, but organizers encourage attendees to register in advance to help with event planning. More details can be found at Queermunity’s event page.

As we celebrate Women’s History Month, Makers of Herstory serves as a powerful reminder that women’s creativity is a force that shapes culture, drives change, and builds stronger communities.
