A night of Black art, music, and community

Southside Sessions will kick off Friday, March 21, at The Legacy Building in South Minneapolis, bringing together artists, musicians, and creatives for a night of expression, collaboration, and culture.

Presented by Soul of the Southside in partnership with KRSM Radio, the event is more than just entertainmentโ€”itโ€™s a creative sanctuary where musicians, poets, and visual artists can connect, experiment, and build community.

A year-round celebration of Black creativity

What began as a one-day festival has evolved into a yearlong movement. Soul of the Southside has always been about more than just a single eventโ€”itโ€™s about creating lasting spaces for Black artistry to thrive.

Southside Sessions continues that mission by offering a platform for emerging and established talent to share their work and engage with the community. On March 21, The Legacy Building will open its doors for a jam session, open mic, and live art experience.

What to expect at Southside Sessions

๐ŸŽถ Live music and jam session โ€“ Whether you sing, rap, play an instrument, or just love music, this is a space for spontaneous collaboration and soulful sounds.

๐ŸŽค Open mic โ€“ Poets, storytellers, vocalists, and MCs are invited to step up and share their voice. The mic is open, the crowd is listening, and the energy is set for raw, authentic expression.

๐ŸŽจ Community art experience โ€“ BYOC (Bring Your Own Canvas/Clothes) and paint freely using community-donated brushes and supplies. Whether itโ€™s on fabric, canvas, or something unique from home, this is a chance to create without limits.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Creative energy and good vibes โ€“ A safe, welcoming space for artists and audiences to meet, share, and build together.
