Scholarship supports students pursuing the arts

The NAACP is now accepting applications for the NAACP x Society Awards Scholarship, an opportunity designed to support Black students and students of color pursuing undergraduate degrees. As part of the NAACPโ€™s Inspire Initiatives, this scholarship program promotes educational equity and prepares students for academic and professional success.

Scholarship details

The NAACP x Society Awards Scholarship provides one-time, non-renewable awards of $2,000 and $1,000 to selected recipients.

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must be members of the NAACP. Those who are not members can join before applying.

To qualify, students must:

  • Identify as Black or a person of color
  • Be a graduating high school senior
  • Be currently enrolled full-time or accepted at an accredited U.S. college or university
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Demonstrate interest in a career within the visual or performing arts, such as:
    • Film, theater, fashion, photography, graphic design, dance, music, journalism, or mass communications
  • Be a U.S. resident or citizen

Application timeline

The application period opened on March 3, 2025, and closes on April 11, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. ET. Recipients will be announced in the summer of 2025.

All completed applications will be reviewed and scored. Selected recipients will receive official notification via email, while declination notices will also be sent by email. Scholarship decisions are final and cannot be appealed.
