Women’s History Month is a time to recognize, uplift, and celebrate the women driving change across industries and communities. On March 27, the 1MN History Makers: Women’s History Month event will bring together some of Minnesota’s most influential leaders for a night of conversation, connection, and inspiration.

Held at The Coven St. Paul, this gathering will spotlight women who are breaking barriers, shaping policies, and advocating for justice.

An evening of dialogue and action

The night begins with networking and table discussions, setting the stage for meaningful connections before a dynamic panel discussion featuring women who have dedicated their careers to equity and leadership.

Moderated by Ashley Oolman, the panel will include:

🎤 Tracey Williams-Dillard – CEO and Publisher, Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder
🎤 Megan Peterson – Executive Director, Gender Justice
🎤 Micaela Schuneman – Senior Director of Immigration & Refugee Services, International Institute of Minnesota
🎤 Alex West Steinman – Co-Founder, The Coven

These trailblazing leaders will reflect on their defining moments, share insights on navigating systemic challenges, and discuss how authentic representation in media, policy, and leadership transforms communities.

Celebrating leadership in Black media

As the leader of the oldest Black-owned newspaper in the state, Tracey Williams-Dillard has spent years ensuring that Black stories, struggles, and successes are told with integrity. Her leadership in media and community advocacy makes her a crucial voice in this discussion, particularly as women of color continue to lead movements for justice and change.

Why this event matters

Women—especially women of color—are often on the frontlines of advocacy and leadership but don’t always receive the recognition or resources they deserve. This event seeks to change that by centering their voices, experiences, and impact.

Through this gathering, attendees will gain insight, tools, and inspiration to continue advocating for equity and justice in their own spheres of influence.
