Papa Johns is turning up the heat on innovation with a new multi-year partnership with Google Cloud, aiming to use artificial intelligence (AI) to elevate the customer experienceโ€”both online and in-store.

As part of the collaboration, Papa Johns has launched PJX, a dedicated innovation team that will leverage Google Cloudโ€™s AI, data analytics, and machine learning (ML) capabilities. Their goal: to anticipate cravings, personalize offers, streamline delivery, and enhance customer service through AI-powered experiences.

Personalized pizza powered by AI

With tools like Google BigQuery, Vertex AI, and Gemini, Papa Johns plans to anticipate customer needs and make real-time, personalized suggestionsโ€”such as push notifications or emails about likely cravings for birthdays, sports events, or busy weeknights.

Smarter loyalty and marketing

Papa Johns will use generative AI models to offer dynamic loyalty rewards, tailored website and app experiences, and predictive promotions. Whether itโ€™s a custom discount code or AI-timed campaign, the pizza chain aims to deepen customer engagement and increase order frequency.

AI-enhanced customer support

An AI-powered chatbot is in development to handle routine customer service questions and escalate complex issues to human agents. Voice ordering through the Papa Johns app is also on the roadmap, offering even more convenience for on-the-go users.

Operational upgrades and delivery optimization

Behind the scenes, Papa Johns will transition to a Google Cloud-based point-of-sale system, setting the stage for AI-driven automation, intelligent dispatching, and optimized delivery routesโ€”enhancing speed and efficiency from โ€œclick to crust.โ€
