This Earth Day, celebrate sustainability by learning how to bring new life to the clothes you already own. On Thursday, April 24, 2025, the Minnesota History Center will host Mending 101 with Curiosity Studio, a cozy, hands-on workshop from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on the museumโ€™s third floor.

A creative spin on sustainable living

Fast fashion takes a toll on both the planet and our wallets. This event invites attendees to shift from a throwaway mindset to one of repair, offering creative, practical skills to extend the life of your favorite garments.

No experience is necessary. Whether you’re new to needle and thread or a seasoned DIYer, this drop-in event offers something for everyone.

What to expect

At Mending 101, participants will:

  • Learn beginner-friendly mending stitches for woven garments
  • Watch live demonstrations at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.
  • Practice techniques in a supportive, creative space
  • Bring their own garment for consultation and personalized advice
  • Take home a hand-stitched patch as a keepsake

Come for 15 minutes or stay the full 90โ€”thereโ€™s no pressure, just curiosity and community.

Free museum admission and parking

Admission and parking at the Minnesota History Center are free every Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m., making this a great chance to explore the exhibits before or after your workshop.
