Paying homage to former local prep athletes making the Twin Cities proud, this columnist gives shoutouts to:
Kiani Lockett, the former Minnetonka and DeLaSalle girls basketball standout, who is now a senior for the Creighton University women’s basketball team.
Emmett Johnson, the former Holy Angels running back, who is entering his junior year at the University of Nebraska.
Ronnie Porter, the former St. Paul Como girls basketball player who earned a scholarship after walking on to the University of Wisconsin women’s basketball team, is entering her senior year with the Badgers.
Davon Townsley, the former Minneapolis North lineman, who will be a junior at Missouri State University.
Savannah White, the former DeLaSalle superstar who, after playing at the University of Wisconsin and Indiana State University, will play her senior season at Xavier University.
Zashon Rich, the former Minneapolis north cornerback entering his sophomore season at Kansas State University.
Amiya Battle, the former Hopkins girls basketball all-star, now a senior on the University of Minnesota women’s team and one the Big Ten’s top guards.
Mario Sanders, a former Minneapolis North wide receiver, who is now a junior at the University of Illinois.
Olonda England, the former St. Paul Highland Park student athlete, who is keeping St. Paul Como Park’s girls program among the best in the state.
Quentin Cobbs Butler, the former Woodbury all-purpose player, in his second season as a member of the University of St. Thomas football team.
