Sister Spokesman Expands Health Conversation at Live. Laugh. Learn. 2025
On Saturday, September 20, Sister Spokesman presents Live. Laugh. Learn. 2025 at the Cancer & Cardiovascular Research Building in Minneapolis. This free event, created with the Breast Cancer GAPS Project, expands its focus to include prostate and colon cancer alongside breast cancer awareness. African American men and women ages 35+ are invited for an afternoon of health education, survivor stories, screenings, resources, food, and community connection.
On Saturday, September 20, Sister Spokesman will bring the community together for an afternoon of healing, empowerment, and education at Live. Laugh. Learn. 2025, presented with the Breast Cancer GAPS Project. The free event takes place from noon to 4 p.m. at the Cancer & Cardiovascular Research Building, 2231 6th St. SE in Minneapolis.
This year’s program marks an important expansion. While Sister Spokesman has long focused on breast cancer awareness for women of color, for the first time the conversation will also include prostate and colon cancer. The goal is to create a shared space where African American men and women ages 35 and older can unite in the fight for better health.
What to expect
Guests will experience a dynamic lineup designed to inform, uplift, and connect:
- Inspiring speakers and panels with survivors, medical experts, and advocates sharing real stories and practical tools for prevention and early detection
- Breakout sessions that provide separate spaces for men and women to engage in honest, gender-specific health conversations
- Onsite resources including screenings, education, and referrals from trusted healthcare professionals
- Black-owned vendors offering products and services that support community businesses
- Food and entertainment to nourish the heart, mind, and spirit while celebrating community togetherness
