Minnesota African Cultural Festival Returns Sept. 13
The Minnesota African Cultural Festival brings the rhythms, flavors, and pride of Africa to Brooklyn Center on Saturday, Sept. 13. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Centennial Park, guests can enjoy a free, family-friendly celebration featuring a Children’s Parade of Nations, live music and dance, cultural exhibits, and free BBQ. The festivities continue with a Gala Night Fashion Extravaganza, showcasing African fashion, guest artists, and live performances.
The rhythms, flavors, and colors of Africa will fill Brooklyn Center this September as the Minnesota African Cultural Festival returns bigger and more vibrant than ever. On Saturday, September 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Centennial Park (6301 Shingle Creek Parkway) will host this free, family-friendly celebration of African heritage, traditions, and community.
A festival for all
Organizers are inviting Africans and friends of Africa alike to join in a day that honors cultural pride and unity. Guests can enjoy:
- Children’s Parade of Nations – Young people showcasing heritage and joy in a lively procession
- Free BBQ and family fun – A community feast designed to bring generations together
- Cultural exhibits and booths – Vendors and groups highlighting language, art, fashion, and traditions from across the continent
- Music and dance – Live performances reflecting the richness and diversity of African cultures
Gala Night celebration
The festival does not end in the park. That evening, a Gala Night Fashion Extravaganza will feature runway shows, performances from two renowned guest artists, live music, and dancing. Guests may reserve individual tickets or purchase discounted tables of eight for the evening celebration.
