Coats for Kids Minnesota | Salvation Army Launches Winter Gear Drive
Coats for Kids Minnesota is underway now through Oct. 11. The Salvation Army is collecting new and gently used coats, hats, mittens, gloves, boots, and snow pants for youth across the Twin Cities. Families can donate at metro Salvation Army centers in Roseville, Maplewood, Brooklyn Park, Burnsville, Blaine, Minneapolis, and St. Paul. Financial gifts of 25 dollars at GiveCoats.org provide a brand-new coat for a local child. The campaign has delivered nearly half a million items over 30 years.

With Minnesota’s winter fast approaching, the Salvation Army has launched its annual Coats for Kids campaign to help families keep children warm. The drive runs now through October 11, collecting coats and cold-weather gear for youth across the Twin Cities.
Meeting families where they are
For many households already stretched thin by high costs for food, rent, gas, and utilities, buying new winter wear is one more financial burden.
“As the cost of living continues to rise, more families are finding it harder to afford even the basics,” said Lt. Colonel Randall Polsley, Salvation Army Northern Division commander. “Too often, parents are forced to choose between paying bills, buying groceries, or keeping their children warm. This drive helps lift that burden.”

What to donate
The campaign accepts new or gently used coats of all sizes—including adult sizes for teens—along with hats, mittens, gloves, boots, snow pants, and other winter essentials.
Where to donate
Items can be dropped off at Salvation Army centers throughout the metro, including Roseville, Maplewood, Brooklyn Park, Burnsville, Blaine, and both Minneapolis and St. Paul locations. A full list of participating sites, as well as partner drop-off points, is available at GiveCoats.org.

Other ways to help
Those who prefer to give financially can make a $25 donation through GiveCoats.org, which provides a brand-new coat for a local child.
A tradition of warmth
For more than 30 years, the Coats for Kids campaign has collected nearly half a million coats and accessories, ensuring children can face Minnesota winters with dignity and warmth. Families in need of coats this season can also find information at GiveCoats.org.
