Donald B. McRaven Jr. passed away on December 23, 2025 in Fargo, ND. Donald was born July 24, 1935 to Elizabeth Mahan and Donald B. McRaven Sr. in Minneapolis, MN.
He participated in Golden Gloves Boxing at the Phyllis Wheatley Community Center in Minneapolis and graduated from North High in Minneapolis. He worked as a sign painter, freelance photographer, and stand up comedian while driving Yellow Cab. After graduating from the University of Minnesota with a B.A. and MFA, he began teaching in the Moorhead State University Art Dept. where he developed its photography major.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; son Donald McRaven III (Daytona); daughter Donnella Page; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Elizabeth and Donald McRaven Sr., his sister Bertha Phillips, and sons Jeffrey McRaven and Donald Gurley.
