Sheletta Brundidge is hosting an event with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture to introduce community members to resources for starting or growing food businesses next week. The goal is to reduce barriers to entry for aspiring entrepreneurs.

Brundidge, a comedian, radio host and the creator of Sheletta Makes a Difference and She Makes Me Laugh, is a longtime advocate for Black entrepreneurship and agriculture, said Erika Camplin, food business development administrator with the department.

โ€œIf you get her daily newsletter โ€ฆ she always has a spot in there like โ€˜from the farm,โ€™ so sheโ€™s really always been interested in agriculture and supporting food and agriculture businesses,โ€ Camplin said.

The virtual event is open to anyone with or planning to start a food, beverage, pet food or agricultural business. Participants will have the opportunity to meet staff from the Department of Agriculture and learn about resources such as grants and marketing support.

Brundidge’s food business event will be held over Zoom on Monday, Feb. 2, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Register here.
