Park Center boys basketball couldn’t recreate last season’s result against Blaine, falling 83–72 to the Bengals on Thursday night.
The Pirates entered the matchup hoping for a repeat of their January 2025 win over Blaine, but this time the Bengals controlled the pace and pulled away late. Despite staying competitive through stretches of the game, Park Center was unable to slow Blaine’s offensive push down the stretch.
The loss continues a difficult stretch for Park Center Pirates, who have now dropped five of their last six games. Park Center’s record slips to 4–10 on the season. While the recent results have been frustrating, the Pirates have continued to generate offense, averaging more than 70 points per game during that span.
Blaine, meanwhile, improved to 15–2 with the victory. The Blaine Bengals entered the contest with a significant edge in statewide rankings and showed their depth and consistency throughout the game.
Park Center will look to regroup when it returns home to host Totino-Grace at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pirates will face a challenge against an Eagles squad that has scored at least 55 points in every game this season.
Blaine continues its strong campaign with a road matchup against Champlin Park, also scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
Final Score: Blaine 83, Park Center 72
