Free Community Forum on Gun Violence Set for May 13 at North Minneapolis YMCA

A coalition of Twin Cities organizations is hosting a free community forum on gun violence on Wednesday, May 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Harold Mezile North Community YMCA, featuring a panel discussion with elected officials and community leaders on prevention, legislation and solutions. Dinner will be served and youth attendees will receive a $20 gift card.

About the Event

The Psychology of Gun Violence: Community Conversation Series takes place Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Harold Mezile North Community YMCA, 1711 W. Broadway, Minneapolis. The event is free and open to the entire community. Dinner will be served, making it an accessible and welcoming space for neighbors to connect, share perspectives, and be part of the conversation.

Who Is on the Panel

The panel discussion will feature Cedrick Frazier, Mayor Kaohly Her, John McClellan, Raeisha Williams and Councilwoman Pearll Warren. Together they will explore the psychology behind gun violence, its impact on Black and North Minneapolis communities, and the legislative pathways being pursued to address it.
