Franklin Avenue Construction Shifts South Starting July 8. Here's What to Know
Digital Editor Aaliyah Demry reports on Hennepin County's Franklin Avenue construction project, which shifts work to the south side of the road between Fourth and Chicago avenues starting Wednesday, July 8. Southbound Fifth and Oakland avenues will close at Franklin, Park and Portland avenues will drop to one lane, and Franklin remains closed to westbound traffic in two separate stretches, with detour maps and transit stop closures available online.

Hennepin County construction crews are advising drivers to plan ahead as work on the north side of Franklin Avenue in Minneapolis along County Road 5 shifts to the south side between Fourth and Chicago avenues.
Starting Wednesday, July 8, eastbound traffic on Franklin Avenue will remain open and shift to the north side of the road.
- Southbound Fifth and Oakland avenues will close at Franklin Avenue.
- Park and Portland avenues will be reduced to one lane at Franklin Avenue.
Franklin will remain closed to westbound traffic between Lyndale and LaSalle/Blaisdell avenues and between First and Chicago avenues.
