As the City of St. Paul moves to rename César Chávez Street, following sexual abuse allegations against the civil rights leader, the West Side Community Organization (WSCO) is working to ensure community input is heard throughout the process.

The group is hosting three community input sessions this month. On an event created on social media, organizers say they want to “hear directly from the people who walk Cesar Chavez Street, work on it, grew up on it, and call it home.”

Sessions Details:

  • Thursday, July 16, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 25, 10 a.m. – noon
  • Tuesday, July 28, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

The session takes place at the Neighborhood House, 179 Robie St. E in St. Paul.

You can also give input through a community survey that’s available from July 16 to 28.

WSCO’s mission is to organize the West Side community to build collective power to advance justice and racial equity for all people.
