Overview: Celebrating 60 years
A highlight of grassroots legacy at South Minneapolis' Sabathia Community Center, where past history and future generations intersect at an upcoming summer milestone event.
Sabathani Community Center has served as a vital resource for South Minneapolis families for decades. This year, the organization invites the community to mark its 60th year with a community celebration.
A block party celebration on Saturday, August 8, will feature an afternoon of music, food vendors, activities, storytelling and connection.
During the event, South Minneapolis powerhouses Clarissa Walker and Launa Q. Newman will be honored for their impactful work that is continuing to shape the community today.
With the school year around the corner, families are also encouraged to register for a backpack giveaway at the block party.
