Overview: Uncovering Black Minnesotan History State-Wide
the Minnesota African American Heritage Museum and Gallery is working to collect community stories and historical sites ahead of the nation's 250th anniversary. From early agricultural settlements to long-standing family businesses, this initiative aims to ensure the full scope of Black history in Minnesota is recognized on a national stage.
As the nation marks its 250th anniversary, the Minnesota African American Heritage Museum and Gallery (MAAHMG) is celebrating the historic milestone by ensuring the achievements, contributions, and enduring presence of Black Minnesotans are fully recognized and preserved.
The MAAHMG is asking the community to send information on towns, sites, and local history that highlight where African Americans might have settled, farmed, built businesses, or were buried throughout the state.
