Overview: Breaking stigma and finding community
Shedding light on the Out of the Darkness Walk in St. Paul that's bringing vital mental health resources, crisis support, and community healing to Black and Brown families across Minnesota.

No family should ever have to process the pain of a mental health crisis or a suicide loss alone, but finding a community of healing and hope is closer than you think.
Residents across the Twin Cities are invited to a gathering at St. Paulโs Como Regional Park on Sunday, Sept. 20, for the annual Out of the Darkness Walk. The gathering is dedicated to raising awareness, remembering loved ones, and breaking the stigma surrounding suicide.
Organized by the Minnesota chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), the community walk brings together survivors and advocates to send a clear message: help is available, and prevention is possible. Funds raised during the event will support suicide research, community education programs, public policy advocacy, and resources for those grieving a loss.
