Howard quarterback Jaylon Tolbert is among this weekโ€™s MEAC top performers, the league announced Monday.

Tolbert, a redshirt senior, threw a career-high four touchdowns in Howardโ€™s 35-21 win over Morehouse last Saturday. For his effort, he was named MEAC Offensive Player of the Week.

Two other Bison players also made the leagueโ€™s list:  Noah Miles, Defensive Player of the Week for his three QB sacks for a total of 27 yards loss and a pass breakup; and tight end Keโ€™Untae Mosleyโ€™s only catch of the day was his first collegiate touchdown, a 33-yard reception from Tolbert, which earned Rookie of the Week honors.

โ€œJaylon has played in games for us before,โ€ said Howard Coach Larry Scott during Mondayโ€™s weekly media call with reporters, including the MSR.  Tolbert started in place for the injured Jaโ€™Shawn Scroggins and completed 23 of 41 passes for 267 yards and four TDs.

โ€œHe knows the offense inside and out,โ€ added Scott of Tolbert.

Howard improved to 2-1 and will play Hampton on Saturday in the annual โ€œWhoโ€™s the Real HUโ€ contest.
